What the heck is a Yak stick?
This ancient and enriching dog chew recipe comes from the Himalayan Mountains and has been around for generations.
They are a hard natural yak milk stick that is tasty, nutrient rich and long lasting. Unlike synthetic dog chews, these sticks don’t contain any preservatives, additives or flavourings, are super delicious and really easy fo dogs to digest.
Yakkity Zac's Dog Chews are a low-fat, low-carb dog treat that provides hours of chewy goodness. Protein packed, low in lactose, they are rich in magnesium, calcium and antioxidants. They also contain Omega 3 fatty acids that can enhance the health of your dog’s skin and coat.

Where are your products manufactured & how are they made?
Our products are made traditionally in Nepal and bought to you by our family in Southland, New Zealand.
How they are made? It all starts with Yak milk from farmers in the Himalayas. The milk is then turned into a cheese and the cream removed (making them low in fat). A small amount of lime juice and salt added to coagulate & harden the milk before the coagulated solids are then compressed in muslin cloth to remove moisture and shape them into blocks. These are left to rest for a few days until they are ready to be cut. Finally they are hung on a wire grid in a smoking shed and smoke dried for 28 days, giving them their subtle smokey flavour and colouration. And there you have it!

What are the ingredients in Yakkity Zac's Dog Chews ?
This ancient and enriching recipe from the Himalayan Mountains contains only 100% natural ingredients and are fully digestable. The ingredients are: Yak's Milk, Cow's Milk, Lime Juice and Himalayan Rock Salt.

At what age can I give my dog a Yakkity Zac's Dog Chew?
There isn't a specific age that suits every puppy, instead, it depends on their teeth.
As a general guide, puppies should have their adult teeth before regularly chewing hard treats like yak chews. For most dogs, this happens at around six months of age, although larger and smaller breeds can vary slightly.

How do I know what size chew is best for my dog?
Choose a chew based on your dog's weight and chewing style. As a general guide:
- Small for dogs up to 10kg
- Medium for 10–25kg
- And Large for dogs over 25kg

What are the best Safety practices & Feeding Guide for Yakkity Zac's Dog Chews?
Yakkity Zac's are to be used as a dog treat only. It is not advisable for dog treat to exceed more than 10-15% of a dog's daily diet. Always make sure the dog has access to fresh drinking water. All dogs should be supervised while eating dog treats and treats should be selected as appropriate to your dog's size. Make sure to remove any pieces that seem unsafe nd do not feed dogs that do not chew adequately before swallowing. If you are unsure about what treats are best suited for your dog, consult your veterinarian.

I ready you can microwave them into cheese puffs! How do you do that?
Yes! Once your dog's chew gets too small to hold safely, you can microwave the last piece for around 45–90 seconds until it puffs up into a crunchy cheese treat. Allow it to cool completely before giving it to your dog.

Once opened, what is the best way to store my Yakkity Zac's Dog Chews?
Hard Milk Chews have an incredibly long and stable shelf life. They will keep well when kept in an air tight container or by resealing the bag they came in.
The best place to keep them is:
- In a cool, dry cupboard or pantry
- Away from direct sunlight
- Away from heat or humidity
There's no need to refrigerate or freeze your yak chews.
Can humans eat Yakkity Zac's Dog Chews?
We get asked this question more than you thing. And fun fact - traditionally, this is for whom they were made (much smaller pieces obviously).
These are an ancient hard chew that were originally made for the people of Nepal and India.
So yes, humans actually can eat Yakkity Zac's, however it is not recommended or advised as they are likely to cause damage to your teeth.
